Responding to the steadily growing need to provide the public with up-to-date information on AIDS, the N.Y. City Department of Health has established a new, 24-hour hot line: (212) 608-4860. The caller will get a recorded message explaining symptoms and latest Health Department facts. We hope this new number will speed the flow of information to a public that urgently wants, and needs, concrete data as opposed to the dramatic news reports published recently. The Department has also published a question/answer pamphlet; it is available by writing to: AIDS Information Office, NYC Department of Health, 125 Worth St., NY 10013.
For more information, there is a nationwide toll-free number established by the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta: (800) 342-AIDS.
